I have always been interested in old TV and also educational films that were shown at my school in the 70s and 80s.
Here I present some bits and pieces from my collection. I collect mostly British sponsored films on 16mm from the 1950s to the 1990s. I also collect examples of TV graphics, continuity and Public Information Films.
All clips that are shown here are presented for research purposes. The clips are from old abandoned footage that otherwise would never be seen. It has not been my intention to profit from other's rights. Any advertisements seen on my videos are auto generated due to copyright claims and not added by me.

Westward Television (1960s) Rare Programme - 'Do Children Understand?' Fragment of Film recording
Переглядів 2,4 тис.2 роки тому
This is an almost complete programme by Westward TV (a UK regional ITV company) from the 1960s. Titled 'Do Children Understand?' this film explores the development of language and the concept of 'More' and 'Less' by way of experiments with children of different ages. The film is missing some minutes at the beginning and the title at the start of the film was added by me afterwards and is not on...
Neil Innes - The Interview Game (1986) Video for UK Schools
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 роки тому
A video programme intended for distribution to schools. 'The Interview Game' is a parody of low budget TV game shows but the prize is a job at 'Bloggs Industries'. Three contestants compete against each other but who will win? This video was made in 1986 and went out of date soon after as the qualifications mentioned were superseded in 1988. Also, this was a time when post 16 education was opti...

This off air recording was taken from a Real Video file that I downloaded on July 8 2000, according to the timestamp on my computer. I guess it must have taken ages to download over my 56K modem! Despite many efforts I haven't yet found a better recording of this rare public information film. Can any one help?

Мурня...
Mike Prince was one of my favourite announcers on Central. He turned 80 just recently but not sure what he’s doing now. I know he was involved in the now defunct local TV channel Big Centre TV in Birmingham.
My wife's cousins are from Kawasaki, Japan. They will now have this awesome jingle stuck in their heads because I played this video for them today when we visited😊
I joined London Directories in 1981. Training using phonebooks microfiche, yellow pages. Very dull work. In the 90s i rejoined BT and was trained on the multi cord system then BTOSS. I fully embrace the technology move on.
Ironic considering the announcers most well known character
Coming in from 2024, two great legends still greatly missed, .......having the Charley Says DVD for sometime now and there are some “Play Safe“ clips on there - but how was there not this on the DVD.
@@davidprice5563 This film is available on a BFI DVD if you can track down a copy. Search for the 'COI Collection - Worth the Risk?'.
Weird hippy crap!!
Very dangerous surrounding of water and morning It's true?
This is all her fault, and she's cries
THATS A STUPID THING TO DO8:31 HAVING LIT CANDLES IN THE WINDOW NEAR THE CURTAINS DOES SHE WANT TO BURN THE HOUSE DOWN AS LOOSING HER DAUGHTER?
Made early 1980s or late 1970s. I saw this as a youngster (?during or after Farming Diary) at my grandparents' house - would have been around 1983. I've been looking for this video for years - I remember it with the digger arm (and the doll model) very well.
Ah Birch Services..... Back in the day when my Brother still lived with parents he worked shifts. My old man was always accidentally waking him up when using the bathroom. In the end it got so bad that my brother insisted that if Dad wanted a shite he would have to go to Birch Services as it was only 10 mins away.... "Get to Birch!!" We still laugh about it 😅😅😅
my OCD hates that they all only go to 3 lol
Motorways can be very useful
The jingle of my youth.
0:01 first logo cef😊
After many years I've just come across this and I'm one of the star actors!
I think chips fried in oil taste miles better than oven chips, but they are unhealthy and it can be dangerous. Don’t overfill the pan, clean it regularly and never leave it unattended. I haven’t fried them in oil for years, most people buy oven chips nowadays.
0:28 ADAM ANT POSTER ON THE WALL
The smug delivery of "Of course, if you don't overfill your chip pan, you won't have to do any of this" is 😘 Imagine nearly dying of smoke inhalation and getting fat shamed by the voiceover to boot
Bet she can't even remember the frame number of the chip pan.
The 70s seem to have been a very dangerous accident prone era
May Allah grant that sweet soul a place in Jannah 😢🌹🙏🕊
Probably filmed in a sand quarry with a nice backdrop...😊
I always wonder how much they got paid & whether there were repeat fees? Probably Equity rates, I guess.
What you did here in terms of yoga is art, and what God did in creating woman and the human body is art in the most beautiful way for us to appreciate. And the filming and the music simply take all of that art and take it up a couple more notches thanks to their art as well. Thank you creativity! And thank you for posting this.
Brilliant TV. Not sure what the point was except just for great entertainment. How many of us need to know this procedure? HGV training covers this as the driver says.

0:23 me too random animated 1970s bird, ME TOO!!!
This Is Westcountry! Sad Part: 4:03
All these years on and I still haven't a clue what he says at 1:21 as he's walking round to the window. "Only **** ****. that's all" is as much as I can make out.
It's 'cod' French. 'Only formidable, that's all'. Pronounced 'form-e darb-le'.
It is tragic when it is a kid especially, but the choice is made by them, make sure to tell your kids and show them a gruesome video if you have to :( I know what this does to train drivers too, it is life altering and some never get over it.
What a fanny
Police will absolutely not get involved in 2024..lmao..
I used to cross tracks often in the 90's as a kid with my friends ,all of us where on bikes so we carried em over the tracks! 2 sets of tracks not a single! So it took some effort and if you got a foot stuck or you fell and got hurt badly..unkess a friend or friends could unstick your foot?! In time? Or drag u off tracks fast enough...sometimes they would be too far ahead anyway pushing bike's up the hill on the other side! Scary to think what could have so easily happened! Another friend of mine lay down on them same tracks and took his own life...grim!!!! R.i.p!
This is bound to give Sleepless Nights for Years to Come!😱🔥
My Dad was a commissioning engineer for TXE4 and System X installs, i remember one Saturday he took me to work with him at an exchange in central Brum (i was about 10), i was mesmerised by all the rooms full of wires and switches.
That voice sounds familiar Is it Patrick Allen?
6:48 it's just a plastic frizbee. Go and buy another from literally anywhere dead cheap. And don't do that again.
There's a substation west Newcastle before you get to Lemington and Newburn
Thanks, TFTM
I watched Simon in the late 70s/early 80s. It came on during Romper Room. When I first saw this as a kid, I felt sorry for the chameleon being unable to change himself back to normal. Now when I watch it, it brings me to tears. I miss the simpler time in my life. Also, I married into a different culture, and I have days when I feel like the chameleon myself. I changed myself to fit into another group and the real me is gone. Anyone else ever feel this way? Or am I the only one sobbing through this episode?
It’s funny cos when I was younger it was always 20p for measuring tyre tred. Funny way to talk about inflation
38 Years ago today that This episode/PIF of Superted first Premiered on CBBC1!

DISN'T KNOW EDDIE ALBERT WAS A DANCER
I wonder if they waited until it was chucking it down or it was just coincidence they filmed it when it was chucking it down. As the rain would've made a difference, only a little but of course we (hopefully!) all know about double stopping distances.
Bro had about 10 jobs
Saw this ad and immediately got a ke100
My sisters second week as an undertaker she had to (for want of a better way of putting this), make someone hit by a train look as close as possible to the person the parents knew. It is such a long chain of people it can affect. Please be careful kids...and adults even. Do they even show such things now? for some reason I can imagine todays parents yelling, pullling kids out of school and threatning legal action for such a film... bubble wrapped world,
I remember watching this in primary school around 1993 and going home and telling my mum about it and some of the images in it, she just said something like "Good well I hope you remember it if you ever go near a railway line" No shock or threats to complain to the school.
7:10 That was the approaching Intercity 125 in slow motion. Imagine being this poor lad and seeing this train coming towards you at full speed. You can see the train approaching in the distance, but barely hear it...and that's the frightening part! At least with the Class 68 locos you can hear it approaching from a distance.
